Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about running a golf league on The Turn.
Getting started
Do I need to install an app?+
No — The Turn runs entirely in your browser, on desktop or phone. There's nothing to download.
Do I have to type in my course's pars and yardages by hand?+
No. Photograph a blank scorecard from the pro shop and The Turn reads the pars, stroke indexes, yardages, and ratings off it, then checks its own math against the card's printed totals.
What if a golfer can't make a round?+
Add them to your Substitutes pool ahead of time, or draw from the whole league once the playoffs start. See the Substitutes guide for the full picture.
Read the Substitutes guide →Scoring & handicaps
What scoring formats does The Turn support?+
Four, built in: match play, net match play, stroke play, and Stableford.
How does a golfer's handicap get set?+
Enter it directly if you already know it, or leave it blank and The Turn establishes it automatically after they've posted a few rounds. See Handicap 101 for the full picture.
Read Handicap 101 →Can I fix a score after it's entered?+
Yes, up until the round publishes. Publishing freezes that round's handicaps and points and locks the scores — that's what makes standings something everyone can trust, not something that quietly shifts later.
How do golfers enter their own scores?+
They scan the QR code printed on their scorecard, which opens live scoring for that exact round — no app to install, nothing to type in.
Accounts & pricing
Does every golfer need their own paid account?+
No. The commissioner pays once per league per season, based on roster size. Golfers are invited in and never pay The Turn directly.
See pricing →What happens when the season ends?+
Next season, the commissioner is prompted to pay again, and the roster — names, handicaps, contact info — carries forward automatically.
Who can see the audit log?+
Any commissioner. Every roster change, score correction, and settings update is logged — who did it, and when.
